01Introduction

Ocean Tackles ("Ocean Tackles", "we", "us", or "our") operates an e-commerce platform specializing in fishing equipment, fishing tackle, and related products. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.

This Privacy Policy applies to your use of:

  • the Ocean Tackles website;
  • the Ocean Tackles mobile application for Android and iOS;
  • your Ocean Tackles account and profile;
  • product browsing, search, wishlists, and your shopping cart;
  • orders, payments, invoicing, and order history;
  • shipping, delivery, returns, and refunds;
  • customer support and other communications;
  • notifications and in-app messages; and
  • any other services or features that link to this Privacy Policy.

We have written this policy in clear language wherever possible. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Ocean Tackles website, app, or services.

02Information We Collect

We collect information in three broad ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the service, and limited information we receive from partners such as payment and delivery providers.

A. Account information

  • Name
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Authentication information (one-time passcodes and session tokens; passwords where password sign-in is used)
  • Profile information you choose to add

B. Order information

  • Products purchased, quantities, variants, and prices
  • Order and invoice details
  • Billing information
  • Shipping address and recipient contact details
  • Delivery status and tracking information
  • Order history and returns or cancellation records

C. Payment information

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. Ocean Tackles does not collect or store your complete card number, card CVV/CVC, UPI PIN, net-banking passwords, or similar full payment credentials on its own servers. From the payment provider we typically receive limited transaction information, such as:

  • payment status (for example, successful, pending, or failed);
  • a transaction or payment reference ID;
  • the payment method type (for example, "card", "UPI", or "wallet"); and
  • the order or payment amount and currency.

D. Device and technical information

  • Device type, model, and operating system version
  • App version and, for the website, browser type and version
  • IP address and, where applicable, device identifiers
  • Crash, diagnostic, and error information
  • Log information such as access times and requested resources

E. Usage information

  • Pages and screens viewed
  • Products viewed and categories browsed
  • Search queries within the service
  • Cart and wishlist activity
  • Feature usage and navigation paths
  • Approximate usage timestamps

F. Location information

Ocean Tackles does not collect precise or continuous GPS location from your device. We may infer an approximate location (for example, city or region) from your IP address, and we use the delivery address you provide to fulfil orders and calculate delivery charges.

03Information You Provide

You share information with us directly when you:

  • create an account or verify your mobile number or email address;
  • edit your profile;
  • add or edit saved shipping addresses;
  • place an order, apply a coupon, or request an invoice;
  • add items to your cart or wishlist;
  • contact customer support;
  • respond to surveys or requests for feedback; or
  • otherwise choose to send us information.

Please do not send us sensitive information we have not requested. If you provide another person's details — for example, when shipping an order to someone else — you confirm you are entitled to share that information with us for that purpose.

04Automatically Collected Information

When you use the website or app, some information is collected automatically by our systems and by the technology providers that help us operate the service. This includes the device, technical, log, and usage information described above. We use it to:

  • keep you signed in and maintain your session securely;
  • remember preferences such as your selected region or display settings;
  • diagnose crashes and performance problems;
  • measure, in aggregate, which features and products are used; and
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

Where required by applicable law, we rely on your consent for non-essential automatic collection (such as analytics), and you can withdraw that consent as described in Cookies and Similar Technologies.

05How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following legitimate business purposes:

PurposeExamples
AccountsCreating and managing your account; authenticating you; verifying your mobile number or email

ImprovementFixing bugs, improving app performance, and developing new features
PersonalizationShowing relevant products, recommendations, and recently viewed items
AnalyticsUnderstanding, in aggregate, how the service is used
LegalMeeting tax, accounting, and other legal obligations, and resolving disputes

We only use your information for purposes compatible with those listed above, or for a new purpose that applicable law allows or for which we obtain your consent. We do not claim features the app does not actually provide.

06Account & Authentication Information

Ocean Tackles uses mobile-number and email verification with one-time passcodes (OTPs) to sign you in and protect your account.

  • OTP messages may be delivered through third-party SMS and email communication providers.
  • OTPs are used only for authentication and account-security purposes.
  • OTPs are temporary and expire after the applicable verification period.
  • Never share an OTP with anyone. Ocean Tackles staff will never ask you for your OTP, password, or full payment details.

We store authentication data such as session tokens so you stay signed in on your device. You can sign out at any time, which invalidates the session on that device.

07Orders and Payments

A typical order moves through the following lifecycle:

  1. Order placed — you confirm items, delivery address, and any coupon.
  2. Payment processing — payment is handled by a third-party provider; we receive the payment status and a reference ID.
  3. Order confirmation — we confirm the order and notify you.
  4. Fulfilment — the order is picked, packed, and prepared for dispatch.
  5. Shipping — a logistics partner collects the shipment and provides tracking information.
  6. Delivery — the order is delivered and its status updated.
  7. Returns & refunds — where applicable, returns are processed and any refund is issued to your original payment method.

Ocean Tackles currently offers payment through Razorpay(which supports cards, UPI, and wallets). The payment provider independently processes your payment information as a data controller under its own privacy policy and terms. We encourage you to review the payment provider's privacy policy before completing a payment. Returns and refund eligibility are governed by our Terms & Conditions.

NoteOrder confirmation is always subject to product availability and successful payment verification.

08Shipping and Delivery Information

To deliver your order, we need a shipping address and a contact number for the recipient. We share the minimum information necessary — typically the recipient's name, delivery address, contact number, and order reference — with the logistics and delivery partners that carry out the delivery.

Delivery partners use this information only to complete the delivery and provide tracking updates, and are required to protect it. Applicable delivery timelines and charges are shown to you at checkout before you pay.

09Communications and Notifications

We may contact you with the following types of messages:

Service & transactional

One-time passcodes, account verification, order confirmation, payment confirmation, shipping and delivery updates, and returns or refund updates.

Important notices about security, changes to terms or policies, and availability of the service.

Marketing (optional)

Offers, promotions, and product news — only where permitted, and you can opt out at any time.

Service and transactional messages are necessary to operate your account and fulfil your orders and cannot generally be switched off while you use the service. You can manage push notifications from your device settings, and you can opt out of marketing messages as described in Marketing Communications.

10Cookies and Similar Technologies

On the website, we and our service providers use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies. The app uses equivalent local storage and device-level identifiers. These technologies fall into the following categories:

CategoryPurpose
EssentialSign-in, session management, cart contents, security, and load balancing. The service cannot function without these.
PreferencesRemembering choices such as region, language, and display settings.
AnalyticsUnderstanding, in aggregate, how the service is used so we can improve it.
SecurityDetecting suspicious activity and protecting against fraud and abuse.

Where required by law, we ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies and similar technologies, and you can change your choice at any time through the website or your device and browser settings. Blocking essential technologies may prevent parts of the service from working.

11Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the service. These providers process information only on our instructions (or, for payment providers, as independent controllers) and under their own privacy policies and contractual obligations. The categories of providers we use are:

12Data Sharing and Disclosure

We share personal information only when it is necessary, and only with:

  • Payment processors — to take payment and confirm transactions;
  • Shipping and logistics providers — to deliver your orders;
  • Technology and service providers — for hosting, communications, analytics, and diagnostics;
  • Customer support providers — where we use them to help answer your requests;
  • Professional advisors — such as auditors, lawyers, and accountants, where reasonably necessary;
  • Fraud-prevention and security providers — to protect the service and our users;
  • Authorities and other parties — where legally required, to comply with a lawful request, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ocean Tackles, our users, or the public; and
  • A successor entity — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Ocean Tackles does not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing without your consent.

13Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including:

  • encryption of data in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS);
  • access controls and the principle of least privilege;
  • secure authentication, including one-time passcodes;
  • limiting employee and contractor access on a need-to-know basis;
  • logging and monitoring for suspicious activity;
  • use of reputable infrastructure providers; and
  • applying security updates and reviewing our practices periodically.

No website, app, or method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where required by applicable law.

14Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to:

  • provide the service and maintain your account;
  • complete and record transactions;
  • meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations;
  • prevent fraud and maintain security; and
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and resolve disputes.

Retention periods depend on the type of information and applicable legal requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymize it, or securely dispose of it. Some records — for example, invoices and transaction records — must be retained for a minimum period set by law even after you close your account.

15Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law and to verification of your identity, you may have the right to:

Access

Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Correction

Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

Deletion

Ask us to delete personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.

Account closure

Request closure of your Ocean Tackles account.

Information about processing

Ask how and why we process your information and who we share it with.

Complain to an authority

Lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority where one applies to you.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Contact Us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. These rights may not all apply in every country, and some are subject to exceptions — for example, where we must keep information to comply with a legal obligation.

16Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Ocean Tackles account and associated personal information at any time.

How to request deletion

  1. In the app: open Profile → Helpand contact our support team with the subject line "Account deletion request", using the mobile number or email address registered to your account.
  2. By email: send a request from your registered email address to support@oceantackles.com with the subject line "Account deletion request".

What happens next

  • We verify that the request comes from the account holder.
  • We delete or anonymize personal information associated with the account, including profile details, saved addresses, wishlist, and cart data.
  • We may retain a limited set of records where the law requires it — for example, invoices, tax records, and fraud-prevention logs — for the minimum required period, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
  • We confirm completion to you once the request has been processed.
RoadmapA self-service "Delete my account" control is planned within the app's Profile area. Until it ships, the contact methods above are the supported way to request deletion, and this section is the canonical reference for Google Play's data-deletion requirement.

17Children's Privacy

Ocean Tackles is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without the appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Where a minimum age applies to using the service in your country, you must meet it to create an account.

18International Data Transfers

Ocean Tackles and our service providers may store and process information in countries other than the one in which you live. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws of your country. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law, including using appropriate contractual safeguards with our providers.

19Marketing Communications

Marketing communications — such as promotions, offers, and product news — are separate from the service and transactional messages described in Communications and Notifications. Where required by law, we send marketing messages only with your consent.

You can opt out of marketing at any time by:

  • using the "unsubscribe" link in a marketing email;
  • adjusting notification preferences in the app or on your device; or
  • contacting us using the details in Contact Us.

Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service and transactional messages, which are required to operate your account and fulfil your orders.

20Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" and "Effective date" shown at the top of this page.

For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required — for example, through the app, by email, or by a prominent notice on the website — before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
